Kayak access from Kaikoura town to Clarence

Use to drag my kayak over the stones to launch prior to the quake. But some months back access still blocked off from what i could see? Anyone know if the road works have backed off to allow access to park ones vehicle?

Yeah, thought so, near Okiwi use to be good but workman use this site still by the sounds? South Bay i have tried but the wave pattern unreliable, dumped out twice, broke one rod. But conditions allowing, can be good with deeper water closer in. Thank for the feedback.

There will be a reason why... Hard rock shelf, solid base, deep water?... I guess its good to think that not all habitat was hammered.

If I am correct at the time there was special consent given to roading development to dump rock east of the road. This made the most sense for sure given the amount of habitat distrustion and tonnage of rock v's cost of cartage.

What is now free divable for me (not much) was once pretty deep and has suffered significant change so I guess it will take time for this habitat to change again.

    It will though.

Here is a cracker photo from kaikoura July 2016.....
