I try to do a few at once to save time
And obviously if you do them in batches you have plenty of curing time for the prep work
A humidity and temp gauge is a must, i dont use the epoxy if its under 16 degrees or 80% humidity
Sweet, that’s pretty solid. I reckon mine are probably more like 4-5hrs per lure start to finish. They’re already a lot quicker than the first couple. Plus curing time. Getting quicker all the time.
Yeah, I’ve taken over the spare bedroom downstairs for my epoxy curing room as it’s the warmest room at this time of year. Apparently the Etex can set cloudy if it’s too cold.
Yeah, I try to do things in small batches. I’ve got three going through the top coat stage at the moment, and next batch of a dozen or so are about to be cut out on the scroll saw so I can start shaping while the current batch are curing.
The factory line is alive! Go hard mate
These make a mess of them and it was only a little one

Its not what you get but what you give that makes a life !!
Todays effort. A top coat done on a couple of 165 stickbaits, timber sealer coats done on a 210mm stickbait, and a bunch of blanks cut out on the scroll saw ready to start shaping.

Nice work @Pixie Z
I managed a play around with the airbrush, still waiting on some eyes and etex to show up so can finish them off. Enjoying the learning curve so far.![]()
@c-dog looking great. Look forward to seeing the finished product. It’s definitely good fun playing round with the airbrush
Foil job for a 210mm stickbait. Epoxy coat tomorrow and then time for some paint.

Looking good lads! I use Tamiya acrylic through my airbrush, decent colour range and the clear colours are cool for putting a tint over the foil
A couple more finished. Final epoxy coat on the kōheru pattern I posted previously. Couldn’t decide on a fin style I liked for it so decided to leave it simple and just add eyes, but I think the colour and foil are very effective as is.
The second lure I tried some holographic scale sticker stuff I had. It’s very challenging stuff to work with compared to the aluminium foil- it looked really good initially, but once I added the first coat of epoxy the sticker began lifting quite badly during the curing process. After it had cured I trimmed off all the shitty flaps with a blade, sanded down the high points as much as possible and then gave it a second coat of epoxy to get a smooth finish for painting. It still looked pretty rough around the edges at that point, but looked good along the body, so I was able to hide most of the bad edges with paint. Certainly not the cleanest finish, but the final lure came out looking pretty good, and it gets a great flash/glisten when it hits the light. I don’t think the final photo below does it justice.
