    For softbaiting ideally you want a rod with an IM7 or IM8 blank, this gives the rod awesome rigidity and sensitivity, bare in mind the higher the IM rating the more likely the rod will be to break when point loaded, IM6 is also ok but I find them a bit floppy for my liking. IM7 seems to be the one I like.

    Something around the 6' 6" will do, are you fishing a baitcaster or spinning reel?

    I use a Loomis Perfexion which I find awesome with 14lb braid on my baitcaster, the other good one I have is a Daiwa Red Back which is as good.

    I find it is more important to find the right blank ather than maker, end of the day they all use fuji eyes and reel seats and most manufacturers make very similar rods.
