    Yabbies

First trip out to set some nets this spring, took the grandson out for his first trip. Set last night and pulled this morning, got enough for a feed, next trip will put in more nets

Moved the nets a couple hundred yards further up the channel and will pull them tonight, might even reset them and pull in the morning if there is enough bait left

Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out

I like them straight out of the water while they are hot, nothing else added, but then I like them with salt n pepper, with mayo, with butter, in a sanga, with seafood sauce, with tartare sauce......................I think you might get the idea I like them no matter what way.
I did try a bit of an experiment this time and added some liquid smoke to half of the cook up, a very nice smokey flavour resulted.

Yeah, been catching yabbies nearly all my life, I would hate to think how many hundreds of kg I have scoffed over that time. I think a salty water bath is definitely needed to clean them out.

Put the nets in again last night, the channel I am taxing is being filled so hopefully I will get a few more this week cause they seem to move around more when water is rising, kind of like fishing the rising tide, outback style. Picking up the little fella to take him out again.

Nice one, they're a lot bigger than the ones we manage to find.

Got back in half an hour ago, not too many today, around 40, enough for a good feed, nets reset and will check them again tonight. Mrs is heading over to see her folk in a couple of days, I better send over a few dozen to keep me in the good books and hopefully in their wills.
