    300 Win Mag Feedback

    Hey team,

I'm looking at getting a 300 Win Mag, I'm looking for some feedback, perhaps comparisons with similar calibres...

    Load data, or suggestions welcome...

Currently looking at the Ruger Hawkeye Magnum Hunter Matte SS in a piller bedded Hogue stock, 24in barrel with removable muzzle brake... think I have the scope and suppressor sorted...

    Cheers Craig

What are you mainly using it for?? or is it going to be your general purpose rifle?? 100yd - 700yds do anything etc.
There's a lot of options out there load and pill wise.
I use Norma brass - 180gr accubonds with 2217 powder.
Seems to do the trick on pigs, deer, donkeys, horse's and the odd dingo.
The muzzle break is a good idea but fit a limbsaver, with that combo you good send lead down range all day long.

    Cheers 300winmag,

Looking for the longer range shooting, got a .270 for mid range out to 400m and a .243 as my bush gun...so most shots will be 300m +...

Have been looking at that powder pill combo, might investigate Sierra SBT 180's as well.

Will more than likely have a MAE suppressor for it...

The hogue stock lacks rigidity and you will struggle to fit an angle base on it. But if you go with a big scope with enough internal adjustment you should be fine. Rugers are not renown for long range accuracy work...

Looking at probably a Bushnell Elite 6500 or Tactical 6-30x50..

I have a few Ruger's in laminate and Walnut, I will probably look at a laminate stock for this as well, don't mind the weight myself...

I've got a Rem 700 stainless in 300WinMag I would sell. Fairly new B&C stock without any marks.
Shoots small groups with 180 grn NBT's. I get .75" inch groups easily and often tighter. 3080fps.
Threaded (1:14 I think), and Hardy muffler. Trigger worked and its primo.
Original bedded stock would go with it. Dies and stuff too.

Kills stuff quite dead and makes gongs swing quite a bit.

Maybe 200 rounds down it. I haven't got a clue what its worth?

p.s. This rifle won't be expensive, albeit that its near to perfect.
The price of used rifles annoys me. People don't seem to think that rifles depreciate, and seem to want to get all of their investment back. It is a nonsense.
