I would look to see if you really need a repeater Barnard using AI rem700 detach mags , as it brings 2 things that are maybe not ideal to using this in 308 FTR class ? , one is the mag lenght , the AI rem700 mags , both 5 & 10rds restrict the OAL to similar to a Rem700 short action , ie donot allow you to seat bullets long , and other is that the repeater barnard action takes , Rem700 triggers only , ie its not available with good Barnard target trigger , all the other single shot Barnard actions , use the nice Barnard trigger .

The Barnard trigger may be nice but they are not that reliable in dusty environments - you have to keep them religiously clean or else your'l be having slam fires. Nothing wrong with a rem pattern Jewel trigger & seem to be a little more tolerable of dust etc.
