    Wheat or rice. If it gets damp, chuck it in the microwave & dry it out and it makes a bloody good heat pack too then.

    I filled mine with rice but it was too heavy so I changed it to bean bag fillers. Works pretty well, only thing you have to kind of keep replenishing coz they sag a bit after some time.

    I bought one that was already filled with something but I also bought a second one and I filled it with kitty litter. Seems to work well.

    I have my X type bag rammed tight with Bean Bag polystyrene, weighs about 500 grams, works well over logs etc. Also have used plastic pellets about the size of rice from milk bottle recycling, I use iron sand for my heavy bench shooting rests and bags.
