    Rifle Ranges in Canterbury

Apologies if this has been asked recently, but where are folks in Christchurch heading to sight their rifles out to 400m or more? I haven't been able to find out a great deal about the range in Tai Tapu that apparently went out to 1000 yards.

    Thanks in advance

Ashburton has a range out to 700 yards its at Range Road Ashburton they are very helpful and accommodating they shoot most Sundays 13:00 hours start.

I think they are on facebook I am not so have a look.

I think they charge a $ 20.00 range fee, they have done a great deal of work on the range and have electronic targets you can use your phone to observe your shots on target in real time and also take screen shots of your results.

Tai Tapu last time I was there about two years ago they doubled the range fee to $ 40.00 (I did not shoot nor have I returned) no electronic targets long grass and cow shit on the firing points.

The Ashburton one only offer a 100 yard sight in.

The shooting out to 700yrds is the club shoot. Palma, F Open etc.

You cant shoot there without a ticketed range officer present due to the location.

Close. For non members it is 25,50,75 and 100. For members who wish to, there is a 200m range that has a process to be followed before access is granted (Safety protocols etc)

I think you might be confusing NZDA with Handloaders?

Ashburton is good. Will let you sight in normally before any match. Good value.
Sparrow hawk is great for everything else out to over 2km
