    Shooting Ranges In Nelson Malborough

Asking of behalf of a friend, about what shooting ranges are in the Nelson area?

It looks like there is an NZDA range but I can’t see any information about if non NZDA members are allowed to attend.
I guess just send an email to Nelson NZDA for more info?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Motueka Pistol club have both a pistol and rifle range. Need to either become a member/associate member or attend with a member to use.

Its located in dovedale and has gongs every 50m out to 400m

There is also a range in cable bay somewhere. I have never used it but @Pengy should have the lowdown.
@veitnamcam should be able to answer your NZDA questions.

I believe the NZDA range is at Cable bay. Is the Western cowboy club still in existence near Golden Downs?

Nelson NZDA range is one of the best in the country with around 20 covered concrete benches on a 100 and 200m range, there is also a 25?m rimfire and shotgun range.
However access is becoming more and more difficult threw the forestry to access it.
Currently it is opened by a range officer and members must travel in convoy in and out at 9am 11.30 am (times may be off)
    weekends only
non members must be accompanied by a member.

Cable bay shooting adventures must be booked but can be used during the week, covered 2 person bench, good gong selection out to 700ish...out to a mile by appointment. DO NOT SHOOT ANY ANIMALS THE GOATS ARE STOCK!

All those with dogs waiting no longer fear death. Those with many dogs waiting even welcome it in it's time.

There's also a new range called peak view now open on the other side of the wangamoas.
I believe it is accessed through the hori(?) bay road.
I am looking to sign up myself.
Looks great from the pics on web but don't know what situation is with 'casual' visits, but bookings required.....

Might be too far but there is a fullbore range that goes out to 900 yds in Marlborough ( NN side of Renwick). Full bore is not just for .308's these days they cater to all styles.

    anyway...
First time Visitors have a few options, come out for a competition, book in a lesson or book in to use "Range 1", all of these will get you the safety brief, after that you are welcome to consider becoming a member. Because of the lack of mobile reception we have a 100% online booking system(including mobile app), pay the annual membership and then there's no range fee for yourself plus a few other perks.

    see you out here
