Hi there not sure I can offer much, having been out of muzzle loading firearms for ages but I met Tony in his workshop in Auckland in the late 70's and purchased one of his 58 cal round ball guns. I think it had a 1/72" twist barrel. It shot bloody well I remember and I bowled over 4 deer with it and that big 280 grain ( I think ) roundball just wasted them. His barrels were said at that time to be very good. Mine was a caplock.

I believe there's still plenty of keen black powder guys still out there who I'm sure can help u more than my old memories. Cheers Rob.

Maca 49 would be a good source of info but i had a hawkin barrel made by tony I made it into an underhammer shutzen in the early80. A big octagonal barrel in 45 cal, it was a tackdriver but weighed nearly 10 pounds in the stock i made for it from eucalyptus. The barrel was repurposed later into a rolling block in 45/70. He was based in the hawkes bay if i remember correctly and made a lot of good stuff. If its a genuine Hawkins then its a piece of NZ firearms history.

He was in Onehunga Auckland, passed away quite young. He was very talented, but like us all could still stuff up.
