Question .177 or .22 for Air Rifle

Hello, New Here Member here from Auckland

Appreciate if anyone has recommendations on a .177 Air Rifle, or is .22 the best starting Calibre, Mainly Fun target shooting and Pests (Eyeing the Gamo swarm magnums Gen 2s but stuck on calibre choice)

    Thanks

I couple of years back I was where you are. I bought a brand new gamo .22 Swarm Magnum for about $1200. Sold it the other day to a young friend for $200. Bastard heavy thing to bend that barrel down if youre not a big strong fella. And not even that powerful anyway. Those things are a huge waste of money, buy a higher quality one second hand if you possibly can. Someone on this site might have a decent older one they don't use any more.
Also, .22 will have much better killing power than .17.

Get your licence asap and buy an actual .22 rimfire, they're 100x nicer to use than a clunky break barrel. Try minimize your expenses on air rifles, save your money till you get a licence.

If you decide to go with a 22 air rifle, I have a Benjamin Trail (nitro piston) for sale

Google it and if interested you can come over to my place and 'fondle it' to see if you want to buy

    Welcome aboard
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
