    7-08mm Barrel Rechambering Question

Folks, seeking a bit of expert knowledge from the forum. I get a bit lost in the technical side and math (good old dyslexia thing).

Will a 7x65R reamer clean up a 7-08mm chamber - i.e is it possible to rechamber a single shot barrel from 7-08mm to 7x65Rimmed? Single shot barrel, so no action length, or feeding issues. Same barrel diameter. Purely question of whether the 7x65R reamer will clean up the 7-08mm chamber.

Case specs are below, my read is yes you can as the 7x65R shoulder is pushed out quite a bit and the case should cut out the 7-08mm shoulder, but the technical aspects of this are not my strong suit. Would be good to get some expert advise!

The base diameter of the 7x65 is smaller than the 708 - .468 vs about .471 at the same point.

Lower coal is longer. Will only be able to tell by how much meat is left on the donor rifles barrel.

It looks like the 7*65R shoulder is too narrow. Even though the shoulder is further forward than on the 7/08, the 7/08 tapers a lot less so it appears you'll end up with the shoulder portion of the 7/08 still there after reaming.

What single shot is it that comes in 7/08 that you're contemplating this conversion on?

I have just checked with a 6.5x65R case

The rim and base are fine
The 7mm08 shoulder is 0.1mm larger diameter than the 6.5x65R body at the same location

So it's within a nats whisker
And I expect the 7x65R has the exact same body taper

Would need to be very accurately dialed up and cut

Came up in a conversation I had yesterday over European vs American rounds. Specifically on the counter was a CVA in 7-08mm and a Ruger #1 on the gun shop rack. I’d probably look at it on a #1… but then again if I was going down that route I’d probably just go for it in a K95 and order new. Would be worth considering on an Encore as well I think, plenty of 7-08mm Encore rifles.

Thanks… I have a 7x65R snap cap - I guess I could use that to measure that with my digital caliphers? Can you share the 6.5x65R width?
