    Shopping for Gun Safe enquiry

I'm shopping for a new Cat.A compliant safe for rifles I can not squeeze into my current safe. Limited room for placement means maximum dimensions will be H1500 x W350 - 450 x D300 mm and it could have or not have an internal safe box and / or shelf. Weight should not be silly as I will have to manoeuvre into position for wall / floor fixing.
Been looking online and a bit aghast at advertised costs. Obviously prices have inflated somewhat since buying my last safe.
Any suggestions of where to look or enquire for something in a reasonable cost bracket please ? Any info much appreciated, thanks.

Looks like the Stealth ACat 5 gun will fit the bill. The prices aren't too elevated since last year. I have one. Not bad.

Identify your target beyond all doubt because you never miss (right?) and I'll be missed.

I just had to buy a new one, my plywood one didn't cut the mustard anymore. Called into Hamill's rotorua, grabbed a 10 gun safe for $600

    Go here https://www.police.govt.nz/advice-se...transportation
The first document, which you should download and keep a copy of is - Secure Storage Guidance for Firearms and Ammunition - a publication that tells you all of the requirements for whatever type/category of firearm you keep.
Unless it's a different category, there are circumstances which do allow wooden enclosures.

This is what I ended up getting. 7 gun safe but I'm sure I can squeeze in a couple more. Finally got it secured today.
Thanks to all here who helped with advice and info. Cheers.

I have the 5 gun version of the same. I'll be grinding off the attachments on the door as it doesn't like scopes on the rifles

Isn't it about time manufacturers started making safes that accommodate the stated amount of rifles including scopes as it seems all the stated amounts can only be achieved without scopes.

Yep, most 7 gun cabinets are good for only 5 rifles with a scope. 5 gun cabinets are for 3 rifles with a scope.

I store my rifles barrel down due to oiled bores and I don't find the door attachments a problem. Still, i don't need then and would rather not have them. I'll see what happens but may end up removing them just as you plan to do.

I know what you mean, and agree. By storing scoped rifles barrel down I'm pretty sure nine rifles will fit into this safe.

Used to do that. With oiled bore and barrel up would get oil running back into the action and / or bolt lug seats. So went all barrel down. Probably should use less oil but it sure protects the bores.

TSB Living do a couple of different sized safes.
I got an 11cap which really only holds 5 scoped rifles.

Got the same safe .lined it with marine carpet so not to.scratch the guns.well.made safe
I throw some silica beads in when we get them from work in packaging for the moisture protection.

When I bought it the guy at the shop said take the back off and tighten all the screws in behind..as if something comes loose I. The back assembly you will never open it u less you cut it open. I did what he said .seemed ok
