Went through the process over 2 phone calls since the portal no work work for me, bought a 308 that was too good to pass up.
Stumped them with a question however.

Question was. 2 of the guns in the safe are my brothers (now registered under my details) . We both are on the title of the house, share a safe. Only him and I have access to said safe. He is currently deployed in the defence force until December when he returns back to home.. Technically firearms are in my possession currently. Do I need to register them under my name? Answer was yes as expected. So I then said. If I buy a second safe, he has the key to it. I do not have access to it. I have my safe, same principle I only have access to it. His guns are not in my possession who's name do they need to go under? Explained not trying to be a smart ass. For me to ring them I have to leave work early and my brother well.. During their open hours it's impossible for him. We are more than happy to transfer ownership back n forth to follow what we need to as we are law abiding citizens but surely must be a more convenient way.
Got my answer back today, I have to have the guns in my name since when he's in the country he resides at his house only on the weekends and possession of the firearms under the same roof is for less than 30days... 'bit like a husband and wife situation where only one person needs to have them registered under the same roof'

Leads me to wonder, when it comes to firearms renewal time and the safe gets checked, what happens when my brother has access to all these guns he owns but doesn't have in his name..
