You shouldn't have to do the verified one that needs your address I'm pretty sure. It should be easy to do just online.

That's great since they only give you 30 days to register. If it's an unplanned purchase you're pushing it uphill.

Yep the verified is only if you want to check what you have registered afterwards.

Did so because of all the conflicting statements made regarding this matter. Was pleasantly surprised when referred to Arms Officer and he stated " no, this is not an activating circumstance to trigger registration". I repeated the question to him and he again confirmed this was the case. So not in a big rush to go through the process yet though I know I'll have to do it sometime. overall it was quite a pleasant interaction with both the initial receptionist and the AO. Both were quite happy to answer a few questions, very helpfull. Registration system, still not confident about it.
Was making enquiries with FSA today about other matters and again asked the question whether on-line ammunition purchaces using Police order form was an activating event and was again told "no it is not". I did record this conversation for future referance. And Three O'Three, IPhones do not allow recording of phone conversations, it's part of their security function.

Yes, that is the case at the moment, but there is a date beyond which ammunition purchases, which will then include mail-order purchases as well as the in-store variety, it will be a requirement.
As with the registration of firearms, there is a date beyond which it must be done - the activating event will be the end date of the grace period. Unless, of course, the legislation is repealed. We live in hope

I can’t wait to see how it will stop the two firearm killings over the weekend, it has a magical part they haven’t told as about as yet?

Five years from inception of the register in June 2023 unless a triggering event occurs prior
For ammunition it's 2 years from inception as they haven't built the system for that yet I'm guessing.

    From https://www.firearmssafetyauthority.govt.nz/firearms-registry/when-register-or-update-your-information
If no activating circumstance applies to you before 24 June 2028, you’re required to provide information for the Registry by 31 August 2028.

Did mine today. Have to say the sites clunky, not intuitive, and not particularly logical. Once you get to the actual firearm registration it’s easy enough. Although you need to know your rifles.
What really assumed me was the “Realme” log in. I did mine on my iPad, and it notified me of a data breach and recommended I change my Realme password.
So while on the Realme page, I search for change my password.
Nothing, pages upon pages of how to change my gender. Change my name, change my pronoun. Change my ethnicity. But change my password? No sir.

It's super easy. Just log in on the Realme page and go to settings. Option to change password is right there.
Realme also uses 2FA which is good and recommended to set up if you haven't already.
