    BSA Single XII Shotgun

So i managed to track down my dad's old shotty after many years of searching but i know nothing about shotguns. I am keen to shoot it occasionally so can anybody give me any details on this model? Anything i should look out for before firing it and what shells should i look at. Being old i guess i shouldn't be putting high powered modem rounds through it.

    Any advice is much appreciated.

Wow I haven't seen one of those for donks!
If the gun closes nice & tight without any slop, and the bore is not too badly pitted, it should handle any 32 gram load of lead shot.
Avoid steel shot and 36 gram loads.

Yep she's nice and tight and bore is pretty good except for a bit of pitting in front of the chamber. Looking forward to giving it a blast.

I have one of these in my cabinet and have shot it in the past any 1 1/8oz lead load will be fine but they kick like a herd of mules hit rabbit on one side of gorse bush pick up on other side they hit hard

Just check the choke before attempting to put slugs through it, you might not like the end result
