I have use a suppressed .308 over the last 3 deer dogs I have had, never had a problem with the muzzle blast bothering them, they are usually too focused on the deer.

As mentioned @tikka is a wizard on the 300blk if your going that route. I'd go through his posts on the forum regarding loads etc... However if suppressed super rounds are still too loud then perhaps consider one of these:

There good enough for military and law enforcement.

Perhaps look at your suppressor too, some are certainly better than others. DPT suppressors can be extended out as far as 10 baffles if required.

yeah I have a Hardys suppressor, to give more context I use him at work and can sometimes be shooting alot of deer and goats over him and by the end of the day he starts to have his ears effected, I used 223 before the 308 and had no problems. ill try to get him in behind more often. cheer team

ok that makes more sense now....if you reload???? definately try some less potent loads.speer 130grn hollow points expand really well at lower velocity...so down load to something like 2000fps....actually just about any projectile will work, just the softer ones will work better...you basically making it a 30/30...less powder = less noise.
if roberts 151s feed...they are awesome..if not you could still use them first up....

I shoot a suppressed 308 over my dog however not the scale it sounds like your putting over yours. I’d love to be able to shoot deer over my dog all day long .

Velocity to energy should be similar?
Other than a few GN powder just means you can make do with a .308 rather than buying .300bo unless you want one.
Same projectiles and same speeds, so very similar if not identical in performance. I now only use supersonic rounds in my 300BLK and it's a great little hunting outfit. Relatively quiet too.

7mm08. 18.5 barrel, dpt. 150 hotcors. Pretty quiet. Kahu's got selective hearing anyway. I reckon a supressed 30 30 would be good option and quiet probably. Not brave enough to chop mine.

sorry for the late reply, shot everything with the 223 from stags, tahr, boar, goats & wallaby. have lost two reds but thats because my dog wasn't there with me. However id recommend 243 and up. Their is a good thread "223 on deer" cheers
