With either I would wear foam plugs underneath if there's a lot of shooting going on, or if shooting from under cover. You can still hear conversation through the plugs when there's no shooting....

I ripped into this today. Been sitting in Blaster waiting for me to get 5 spare moments. Everything came apart with big chunks of rust flaking off. I have photos. First meths and a plastic pot...

Just in case you aren't aware, with most scope rings there is a gap between the top and bottom pieces - they aren't cranked down until they meet. Looks like the guy you got the scope from may not...

Yes lapping will take a very small amount of material off and it ensures that the surface area on the rings is all the same. So when the rings are tightened it contacts evenly with the scope so there...

Those rings don't look like any vortex rings I have come across before. If I was to hazard a guess, I'd say Chinese made. Will be interesting to see how much material gets removed if you were to lap...

in retrospect i am wrong, they would be side crushed but the size difference would be so huge you would need to be the hulk to squeeze down a 25mm ring on a 30mm tube. 25mm ring on a 1" tube is...

if it were possible it would be crushed top to bottom not at the "equator" (where the rings meet)

Hey so I just noticed the scope rings that came with my second hand vortex diamondback have crimped the tube a bit. It's quite an obvious dent. Will this affect the scope at all? The guy told me they...

I see the point of confusion here I typed 63.5 OAL where in fact I used 85.0 OAL as stated in your first post. I was looking at the "case length' when i typed it. Sorry for the mix up
