Most likely your mold was either too cold or the lead was or both, they would be shootable but don't expect stellar results still not bad for a first attempt. Beeswax and lard is a traditional lube...

This, no faffing around required used with a mil dot or bdc type reticle is the quickest accurate way to do it. Wind is still guesswork unless out have a weather station.
