I have treated the bottom of a pack too,( the bit that gets wet in normal river crossings ) because the seams had a tiny leak and it is a better fix than seam seal tape.

I think the biggest problems for people when trying to keep weight off are 1) Not adjusting the diet to match age - eating the same stuff at 60 that you did at 30 wont work. 2) Eating fatty food....
