Well guys this bloody lock down bit is a bugger wearing out my shoes walking the dog , getting wood to keep the fire going. My lathe has packed a sad, broken gear in gear box so using it by hand. Yep...

PaulNZ liked post by SixtyTen On thread : Bedding with 10 pounds of upwards pressure on the barrel.
From what I understand, its mostly used for lighter barrels that are more picky about loads. Putting a pressure point up front will help dampen the barrel a bit and it should shoot better on average...

Laid this up over the last week. Tomorrow I'll see if it'll break open. Two options: A, I've made a mould for a howa mini action. B, I've entombed a howa stock in fiberglass. 176949

PaulNZ liked post by SixtyTen On thread : Baikal single shot rebarrel - Anyone done this?
Seeing as I have been stuck at home for the last week, I managed to find some time to work on this rifle. I finished off the sight block and made a aperture holder to screw into it. I am likely...

Adhesive technologies in Auckland make the West Systems epoxy and stock their other products. I find it cheaper to buy from them, even with freight was cheaper than buying locally.

Thank you Rod, me too.. While this one was a fun fullbore build my current builds are even more appealing to me. Picking up where you left off I have a run of Delisle Commando carbines on the go....

Ive been faffing around with a bunch of Lee Enfields of late, returning the best of them to full wood and parting out others etc. Its been a while since I did any work on these old girls and I wanted...

176138 Ive left the cheek area high at this point and will mount a scope and lower it to suit the correct eye alignment as I go. It will finish a fair bit lower than this

All done. It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty happy with it as a first time making and hanging an axe handle. Feels great in hand. I thought the heavier handle might throw off the balance, but it hefts...

Thanks for the heads up, I had somehow missed that CarbideNZ had them. I just ordered a M5x0.5 I also got a couple of R8 collets for my mill which are mighty hard to find for a decent price.

PaulNZ liked post by Frodo On thread : Are we on the wrong 'No.1" criteria when scope buying?
I think problems tend to arise when we mix those two categories up, and we expect one scope to do it all. 'Featherlight' and 'reliable tracking/drop proof' don't go together in the same sentence....
