If I can only keep one rifle it would be my 308. Common and readily available. Wide range of shootable projectile weights. Can load it down, can load it hot. Most importantly it just knocks...

Agreed. A 260, Creedmoor, or 6.5 Lapua would be hard to beat if you had to have just one rifle. But the 308 is very efficient for 95% of the hunting that I do, so no need to change

Semi is much easier to use when left handed (except hot brass down your shirt) or you limit (ok there are a few available now) yourself to left hand bolts only

Likewise, nothing wrong with a lot of calibers but my 308 has always done the job for me, nothing I shot ever did anything but conveniently fall over dead.

You can't re-invent the wheel, but you can tinker with the motor driving it I guess. Each to their own. I will stick with my 308. It does everything I need it to do well.

I reverted to bolt 22's years ago. I was never confident carrying a loaded semi that it was not going to go bang..........safe on or off. Whereas with a bolt, even without the safety, several...

No more bloody semi-auto .22s for me. From now on it is bolt-actions all the way! I even brought a single shot .22 the other day after my old POS Stirling model 20p turned 3 shot auto on me. :omg:...

It’s not really a preference to be honest, but it seems to do the job. I wouldn’t own it personally, but the Ardern suppressor from Labour seems to do the job of keeping the sound of the firearms...
