shooternz liked post by Marty Henry On thread : Suppressor and load dev
I think Jhon has the right idea. I feel that for a hunting rifle the idea of developing an ideal load is actually pretty pointless if anything you chuck down the barrel prints about 1 moa anyhow....

.308 or .30/06 will fill your needs nicely with a comprehensive range of projectiles available in the 150 - 180 grain range.

I lightly crimp my subsonics. I use Lyman dies and the seating die can be set to give a roll crimp.

Brownell's Magna-Tip pieces are the greatest. These are created in the United States and are of the highest quality available. They have a wider range of sizes than anybody else, and you seldom...

If you have slotted screws (lever actions...) on the firearms you want to work on, make sure you get a decent set with hollow ground slotted bits.

The above should be mitigated by target angle and sand trap if needed.

I’m using 150NBTs in my 284. Bang flop. Nut behind the butt is more important IMO

shooternz liked post by Longranger On thread : Shoulder bump question
ebf I think you will find the custom die is not made from the chamber reamer. I make my own dies from what is called a resize reamer....some 0.004" smaller on critical dimensions. There is no way a...

shooternz liked post by Jhon On thread : Hornady projectiles
Go to cast bullets.. Rob Walker makes a very decent 6.5mm gas checked flat point good to between 1400-1800 fps in around 1:8 twist or slower. Perfectly good killer out to 100 plus a bit meters. Or...

shooternz liked post by Dermastor On thread : New F Class setup and advice
PRS can be real gear race but it doesn't need to be. Many shooters who compete start out with reasonably basic rifles and go from there if they continue to compete. If you want to start from scratch...

Re reading this thread and I realise shooternz that I mis-understood which bullet you were referring to. Thought you were asking after the Lyman 429-244. Here is picture of the Hawke Targets ...

What you don't have in velocity, it's better to make up for in bore size and weight. Unless you can reload specialist projectiles, get a big cal.

Another Sub-X fail today. Shot a goat mid-neck at 5 metres. It went down, then got up and ran 50 metres. Huge blood trail, but I was lucky to find it in dense bush. Might as well take up bow hunting!
