Do the same thing at end of the day mate, ones short and ones long. Can both be cut down to 20/22inches. Can both be loaded with lites or heavys. Both good weapons

Simple. Put her in a run. Let her out under supervision, for training, her runs etc. Don't give her the chance to dig, then there is no behaviour to correct.

I obviously don't take all the gear on most hunts, but it's a full list of everything I have, including batter types and spares, etc., so I can at least put eyeballs on what I have before taking off...

I think that the qualities of a true hunter are intrinsic rather than extrinsic. Its the stuff you can't see that is important. Empathy for the quarry - you won't have that if you don't have it...
