I finally managed to lob some 352 gn ribless pc (41.5gn 2207). Got 3 groups in when the wind was flat. Gotta just play the wind game when it's about and aim off. 45-70 will never be a target round...

Up close at 26m the 45-70 can group like a .22lr and they're both prone to being pushed about by the wind out past 100m. But that's half the fun I reckon 246122 246123

Dont be afraid to load heavier projectiles and drop back the powder. You can easily push a powdercoated 300gn cast projectile to 2000ft/s but seriously.. zero reason to imo. I'm currently sitting...

Had a bunch of new stuff to try. I'm finding some of my moulds don't really like the full length of 2.1" so I bought the redding crimper they designed for the ftx bullet. Seems to work great for...

Carefull when you load those up as well. I had a modest uncompressed load and they have heavy bolt lift and had flattened primers. Tbf I won't bother with ex-mil 7.62 brass in future.
