+1 for what Seventenths has stated. 280ai will get you more speed - getting close to 7mmRM but you need to go with min 24in bbl. I get 2980 fps in my 280ai with the old 162AMAX. 284 will tolerate...

Yep, been there and done that before I went to a .284 I found the .284 to be more efficient with shorter barrels where as with the .280 you need the full length barrel. I was at the time...

I had my first night out in my new Macpac microlight and enjoyed it. Room inside for the rifle and vestibule fits pack and boots. Seems sturdy and is quite thoughtfully designed. I admit I wouldn’t...

Yeah I’d definitely give it another go mate. Part of your challenge though is the factory ammo thing, we reloaders mustn’t forget that just willy nilly plinking is an expensive exercise with factory...

    Had a 284 tikka and done loads for a 708 tikka using 160+pills. 284 had a 19" bbl, 708 had an 18" but got 162eldms doing 2750~ with 54gr~ of 2209 in the 284 and 162 eldx doing 2680 with ALOT less...

Dont under estimate a slow heavy bullet.....for years i used 162gr amax @2600 and 175gr smk's @ 2550 in my 7mm08 and they accounted for plenty of Reds from point blank out to 600yds

And while I remember - I follow Mule Deer's (the writer John Barsness) 308 load philosophy - take a 150 to 165 gn projectile, stick 46.0 gns AR2208/Varget and go shoot it, 99% of the time its a...

Thats from a 22in standard Blaser barrel winaa I wanted a load that was capable of taking deer at 600yds and I'm confident this load in my rifle will do that comfortably

Try 2208 with the 162eldm..standard 22" barrel will comfortably get 2650. Very good on game out to very reasonable distances. I use this combination a lot in a t3. 40.5grs at 71.5mm oal. Also 41.5grs...
