All depends on how big of critters you plan on hunting, and how far you can make humane kills. The 6.5X55 has killed more moose in the Scandinavian countries than any other caliber. Modern hunting...

I understand that some guys want to tinker with wildcats, but the question of "why" is kinda true :D.
Is it pre-64? If it is, the twist rate won't matter.
That sounds interesting! As competitive shooters we get so wrapped up in es/sd tiny groups at 1000 meters that we forget to have fun with some of our other rifles.
Cheers
If you don't mind the extra recoil, and have a modern rifle chambered for it (not an old trapdoor or similar), go for it. The pigs will not know the difference. I loaded 350 cast with gas...
The POI on my rifles that have brakes on them will about 2 inches @ 100m with most bullets. You have to shoot to find out.
Cheers
The 338-06 is a great cartridge. I have used it to take elk and moose using a 250 grain Swift A-frame bullet.
I use R22 for the heavies and N150 for the 120-130 grain bullets.
This is what happens when corporations care about return on investment more than quality products and the people that work for them. Remington has not been "gun guys" for a long time. Hopefully they...
This move is necessary if Remington is going to be competitive in the firearms industry. Their quality control and manufacturing processes have left them with a poor reputation with most people when...
I have an old A-1 in .223, and it is a 1-12 twist. The newer 85 Varmint stainless have various twist rates. The one I have has a 1-8 twist.
Cheers
I found this to be true with a custom rifle that I had built using a Bartlein barrel. I started out loading 10% lower than published data from Euro manuals, and ran into pressure signs with some...
Along those same lines, what are you using to seat the primers? Are you consistent with seating every primer? I would take those cases that had failure to fire issues and reprime for a quick test to...
awesome video! Having never hunted for Chamois, it gave me a taste of what to expect. Thank you

What is the velocity of the 70 grains, running them subsonic?
Unless you are buying loaded Hornady ammo, this will not affect any of us. Hornady does not sell their primers.

Speedy Gonzoles said in an interview with Eric Cortina that Lock-ease is used by benchers shooters as a last step in the cleaning process between matches. Some competition shooters from different...
I can only speak for competition shooters that have strings of fire of 15 plus rounds in 20 minutes. The BC in the 7mm heavies are somewhat better than the 6.5's, and the 6.5 X 284 is a barrel burner...
Nosler uses the same jacket for the 120 as they use for the 140 BT. It's a tough bullet. My son and I both use them in our 7mm-08s.
Harbor Freight sells a great knock-off Pelican case> Tried to attach a link, but it's not working. It's called an Apache 9800 gun case.
Cheers
It might be less expensive to bring it in a gun case that is TSA approved if you are going to be flying there and back to NZ. Shipping costs are ridiculous from the US. When bringing rifles into NZ...
Thank you for the info; much appreciated.
My experience with Norma brass is similar to yours. Softer than Lapua, but very consistent. I have old 6.5 X 55 brass from Norma that I have been using for over 20 years.
I shoot straight 284 for...
Watching that match and seeing the scoring dots as you placed them was amazing. Never shot on a range that had wind directions and let-offs happen as fast as Trentham. There was a lot of WTF moments!...
