I think you are correct. With the NZ Topo50 app (and probably most others) you can select between magnetic or true north.
They learn to shut pretty fast in Pureora...
I use my cellphone + NZ Topo50 app for all my navigation now. You do not need cellphone reception to establish you position or track. My phone is in Flight Mode to save battery life most of the time.
+1 for the Resolution ( it is basically the earlier version of the Copland) and has not let me down over the last few years (including some nasty Fiordland weather)
I live at the end of a cul de sac on the edge of Te Kuiti township. Early in the morning, I have seen red & fallow 3-4 times from my lounge window.
I would think you will be fine, as long as you had permission from your neighbour to be shooting his rabbit in the first place...
