Good successful trip, good to see a few hinds going down to.
The 222 and Hornet are both more than adequate for NI wallaby and used within there limits I think they would work well on SI wallaby. I have shot thousands of the NI wallaby during my many years on...
Very well done on both accounts, two nice animals.
Nice now some animals to see how effective those A Tips are.
That was a real smart stag, sure would be nice to get a crosshair on him, better luck next year.
It’s the experience that counts and by all accounts you had a good successful hunt well done.
So cool, getting your first deer and the painting is a great way to remind you of the hunt , well done.
Loaded a few 300 Win Mag, 178 gr ELDX over 2217, also sized and trimmed some 243, 6.5 x 55. Still got some 30 06 , 300 Rum, 303 to do. Always find something to do at the reloading bench.
Bloody good haul of nice eating porkers ,well done.
Nice stags and fat as , good trip had by all.
Nice, they can be difficult to get.
If they are coming to you movement will be your enemy, they will already know exactly where you’re at. Good concealment and minimal movement will help, and make sure the wind is in your face.
That was a classic, it’s very hard to put aside your meat collecting but great for the people you provide it for. Strange there weren’t a few more stags about, should be starting to happen soon....
300 Win Mag, 200gr ELDX with 77.5 grs AR 2217 doing 2829 fps measured over the new Garmin Chrono. This is my back up load for the 200 gr ELDX with 74 grs RL 26 for 2844 fps which I am having...
I have one that slips over the barrel, it comes a wee way down so doesn’t hang out the front to far. It’s secured with a hose clamp and has no baffles at all. It is very quite and has had many...
I culled up there in the early 70s , back then goats were our main pest animal as well as pigs. Possums weren’t up there then, rabbits and hares were around on some of the properties we hunted. Never...
95 gr Noslar BT with 41 grs 2209 . Does 2945 fps in my 22inch REM
Quite a few cast antlers in the roaring stag, something very unique.
What’s there to hate it just plain works.
Some awesome country you travelled through , well written story, loved it.
Excellent story, nice to see your son has his first big game animal under his belt, long may your hunting together continue.
He will Romberg that day forever, good on you for taking the time to get him into the sport, we need a lot more young fellas to keep our sport alive.
Had a Winchester Featherweight in 257 R quite a while back, nice rifle and shot well, shot a few deer with but sold it on to soon in hind sight. They work well for NZ conditions, basically a 243 on...
Teaching them right, great to see, they will be hooked for life.
Nice spot, plenty of game about. Meat will taste good.
