    .308 Guru’s

I’ve just acquired my first ever .308. What’s a good deer killing bullet and any pet loads appreciated. Not been used for any long range. 200yd zero.

    Cheers

168gn eldm's have been very successful I my 22" Lupo over a mild load of 2208 have to check my charge weight again but its only a mild load at 2622fps, super accurate, super easy to get shooting sub moa and super effective on red skins.
Apparently 178gn eldx are even better at pedestrian speed out further, if that's your thing, I haven't felt the need to change from 168s though.

150g Nosler Ballistic Tip @2900 fps gives
1000 ftlbs of energy at 635 yards

Or 150g Gameking at any velocity you want

Winchester brass has more internal capacity and allows a bit more FPS

Lapua brass handles more pressure and allows a bit more fps

Big Big bodied stags of any type succumb to a well placed 30 cal projectile

    It my fav for Sambar

I use 150gr Nosler BT and performance has been great.

I've always had great accuracy and good terminal performance from Hornday SPs, both 150gr and 165gr, these are super cheap.

About to start loading the 150gr BT in my 16" 308 using 2206h as my all-rounder. Hoping for 2700fps.

I had a very good using the 140gr in my 7/08.

Depending on barrel length, I would look at the 168/178 ELD-M for a short barrel 2500-2600mv or the 150gn Nosler BT if you are running them faster (2700fps+). They have both worked for me out to 300 yards.
    Current load with the 168 ELD-M is 42gns 2208 for 2500mv 16"bbl.

My shortest 308 is 15 inch and the 150 BT is doing 2730 fps

Less than 200y your wasting your money on anything with a plastic tip, get some 150gr interloc or 150g game kings and live happily ever after.

Ok. So 4 or 5 with the Lupo since the spiker you shot in the roar? You must have been finding some time to get out.

your a bush hobbit more often then not??? try a box of bog std winchester powerpoint in 180grn and come back and tell us how you got on....
they are quiet simply put,the ducks nuts....and the recoil FEELS less than the same in 150grn. if you want to duplicate the terminal preformance, hornady make an awesome 180grn sp...I used the round nose version and couldnt fault it on game.
    75/15/10 black powder matters

Correct, but not as much as normal and a couple of those were under spotlight. I'm confident it's a good load and I'll keep using it.
