I hunt because I dont have the patienceto enjoy fishing.
Mainly just because I like to though. No psychobabble I just like doing it.

Awesome @BRADS, for me its the challenge of sneaking into their (the deer that is) house, while they are busy grazing or resting, putting your skills to the test with their big ears, nose and eyes, putting in the hard yards. Hunting Public land is prob 90% of what i do and enjoy the challenge. I have to admit i don't eat a lot of it (only really sausages and beirstick) and a lot find that strange, But after slogging your guts out for the day (sometimes wishing you were on the couch)but getting back to the truck and feeling awesome is such a great feeling. Yes i shoot a lot of deer and have been critisised for it from different quarters but hey, i am out there doing it where everyone else has the opportunity so dont blame me for having a full freezer and you not. I give a lot of mine away to those that have little and get a lot of satisfaction in doing so. I bush hunt and slip hunt and enjoy both.
At the same time I'm into my 4th year of mentoring young boys at my kids school, so far 12 through and another 5 this year. They all go out and get to shoot their first deer. What a great buzz experiencing it with them. I am also a mentor/big brother at another school in the Hutt who just by coincidence has a hunting Principal!! Don't want to jump on your parade Brads but i will share some pics if you are happy for me too.
