    Mail order system

So today was talking with an officer at the local station, filling out one of the new order forms. With all the recent changes, I asked her long it will take to get to the seller (trying to beat xmas of course). She stated that the mail order system had recently changed again, that instead of the station emailing the form to the seller, They now have to send it to the area arms officer, who then sends it on to HQ, whom then send it to the seller so has no idea how long it will take to process.

I understand changes need to be made, the old system had flaws, thats fair enough.

But it seems to me in this current form, they are just creating more work for themselves.

just wanted to know your thoughts/experiences with the new system?

I'm just going through the process. They are INSISTENT on having email addresses, and it was two days after I'd filed they rang me back to check a detail and tell me it would be processed that afternoon. .... I understand they contact the vendor once approval given.

It's new, and fixes a flaw in the previous system, so I can't complain. It keeps us safe after all. I'd like to think that with time, sensible work-throughs will be sorted to make their process simple, but remain robust.

Shame they can't do one for the black market firearms. Legit ones seem to be getting harder.

I'd almost consider just driving to where ever and collecting.

Mate - just picked up paperwork for our transaction.
Bugger - the poolice definitely want your email address for the paperwork.
    Actual address isn't acceptable.
So you need to PM me with that before I can complete.
Paperwork goes in my end, local AO confirms my details off computer.
Paperwork then goes to Wellington, your details confirmed.
Paperwork returns to my local AO, paperwork emailed to you.
Ho-hum, might see the goods sometime next year

That really sux considering they are used as a place to send guns from, where both parties need a license anyhow.

Why do the police need an email address? Not everyone has one of these.

Eh? So an actual residential address is less preferable than an email address? Could just use an "alias" like, I don't know, poundyounow@ihug.co.nz

So we enter into a life of lies and deception? We had a perfectly good system, the cops screwed it up by allowing forms to be on line and Heather bitch has still not been arrested, and we get all this shit, what an amazing outcome, oh what's happened to affect the criminal? Nout!!

Also if sending a gun through h&f don't put anything in there that shouldn't be......they now have to open and "inspect" it before sending
