your right about the handy package though, that's mostly what I'm trying to achieve as with the 270WSM at 22 inches plus suppressor it just feels front heavy and is a bit cumbersome in tighter confines.
in most situations 4-500 yards should cover most of my shots but I like to know I have enough energy out well past that....not that I will shoot that far. the 178eldms in my 30-06 were devastating on reds but they are now unavailable too
