Pity my two samples both have blown primers from an overload.

Yes, CAC did a run of .308 for Alpine Helicopters, h/s .308A.

Yeah, I'd confused it with 270. Covered in Gracia's book.

Found a couple of full boxes tucked away. .222 and 270. Interesting article. Fills in some knowledge gaps for sure.Name: 16F8C0A3-3B28-48B7-B5C1-FC2B9EFE2F02.jpeg

Probably too late to add this info as the thread has drifted way off topic, but here goes at any rate....

The CAC NZ Forest Service order for 270W was in 1968. CAC supplied 100,000 130gr PSP and 50,000 150gr PSP. Order was completed in 1969 and there were no further orders. Headstamp was *270*CAC*NZFS. It looks like the original NZFS proposal was 250,000 rounds each of 130gr and 150gr.

308W - A single lot of 1,000 rounds were loaded for NZFS during 1968. 110gr Speer SP bullet. No indication in my reference whether further loadings for NZFS occurred.
In 1977 CAC produced 100,000 rounds for Alpine Helicopters LTD. The headstamp was 308W and A (Dropped the 2 Cs off from CAC.)

    Hope I haven't infringed copyright.

I heard from Cullers the 270 loads didn’t open up and most animals ran off, anyone have this experience with the 270 150 grain load?

I believe that was on lean hinds .....funny how the .270 has forever been acused of blowing up and bruising to much meat....and yet back then the early loads were too hard.
