    ok I was going to suggest this earlier but kept mum....
    take .30/06 data 7.62mm
    take 280 data 7mmand a bit
    take 270 data 7mm
    take 25/06 data....ummm6.???

    look at max charge weight with powder of choice with same projectile weight and you SHOULD be able to pretty well "slot" in side with your cartridge.....

    Cheers @Micky Duck, actually thats what I did, well apart from the Girls gun but I wasn't wasn't really that keen as you can see from my first postings. I ended up talking with some folk in the states I've know for along time together with taking advice from here , putting it together and deciding the keep with the H4831 if possible
    If Not I'm gonna go H1000, However it looks good at the moment.
    I run a 30 06, and now I have another one with a proper barrel length rather than the 22" I'm keen to stretch its legs

    And No @Tahr I hadn't, thank you.

    What powder have folk found best in the 140gr bullet range
    I have on hand ADI 2208, 2209, 2213sc and VtVh N560

    looking about it seems 2209 or 2213sc would be the best bets amongst what I have?
    Anything else worth a look?
    cheers.
    i use 08 and 09 find 13sc a bit slow baldbob suggested vit N540 i think it was as magic dust so maybe the 560 would be worth going with.

    What is he difference in case capacity between the 6.5 06 and the 6.5x55 ?
    I have zero knowledge of these things , but I’m surprised that the 6.5 06 isn’t a noticeable step up from a good 6.5x55 load .

    Well it is mate. My x55's run about 2740 for good accuracy with the 140 amax, the Finn does 120Gr BT's at 2940, no way I'd recommend that to anyone else, so no load details.
    The 06 case is already 100+ faster and i haven't finished yet.

    Haven't bothered with this in awhile
    I ran some more h4831after xmas and the speed jumped waaaaaaay up.
    I think I figured out what it was apart from the temperature
    It was the first time I'd used resized cases, every other time I just loaded new brass as was just going for speed anyway though early 4831 loads were very accurate.
    Loaded 56.6 to 58.5grn s of H1000 tonight. going to give them a whirl on the weekend.
    loaded 4 of each in 0.5 increments.

    Greetings Jakewire,
    I was chronographing some loads with AR2213SC in the 6.5-06 last week. The rifle is a Remington 721 that was rebarrelled to 6.5-06 in the 1990's. The barrel length is 560 and is fitted with a DPT suppressor. Projectiles are current 140 grain Hornady Interlock. These have a crush length of 84.4 mm and are loaded to 83 mm LOA. Previous loads (not by me) of 55 grains of AR2213 (not SC) expanded the case heads beyond further use with one shot. More recently 52 grains of AR2213SC has been used behind the same projectile without problems. The rifle is not mine but I provide, shall we say, technical support and it has been at my place for the last few weeks to sort out a few problems now accomplished and I thought it would be useful to do a little testing and chronograph a few loads with the following results.
    Hodgdon lists a max of 50.3 of AR2213SC behind the 142 grain Sierra HPTBT for 2,795 fps. Hodgdon also lists 49.5 grains of AR2213SC behind the 140 grain Speer Grand Slam. This is a harder projectile so the Sierra load is likely more relevant. As 52 grains of AR2213 was already in use I loaded 50 grains of AR2213SC to check the old and new powder lot speeds. This gave a little over 2,700 fps for both powder lots. Next the current load of 52 grains of AR2213SC was tried which gave 2,780 fps. This is as far as I would be prepared to go with AR2213SC. AR2217 gives a little more velocity in the Hodgdon data but I did not try it.
    These speeds look pretty wimpy compared with the data provided by Tentman above which I assume was from Quick Load or similar but from my experience 55 grains of AR2213 ruined cases. AR2213 is only a little faster than AR2213SC. The Hodgdon test barrel is a little tighter than the barrel I am working with and I needed about 1.5 more grains of powder to approach their velocities in my 560 mm barrel. Even the 264 Win Mag barely beats 2,900 fps in pressure tested recent data so I would regard the top loads in the computer data as dangerously hot. Please proceed with caution.
    Regards Grandpamac

    Didn't shoot, windy as heck here today, saturday morning looks good.
    @grandpamac.
    yes in my post above I found hornady book max for H4831- ADI 2213 was 49 something. this was simply seated in new Norma 25 06 brass with no other prep
    When I tried in june last year down south I went as far as 55grn as even 51 grns was only giving me 2600 and I had 2830 with fed match 210 and 2865 with a cci magnum primer, @ the 55grns
    however these same loads in January with F/L sized brass using the Redding dies i ended up with 2912 wityh 55grns and 2970 with 55.6 and a huge ejector mark, somewhat stiff bolt lift and a very flat primer and only about an inch group, previously good 1/2 inch at 2830 as above
    So, I have plenty of H4831 to go back to but acquired 2 tubs of H1000 and thought I'd give that a crack starting at a medium load and working up.
    @Tentman
    If your about and it's not too much trouble could you run H1000 for me please, 26 Inch barrel, 140gr amax
    Thanks.
