Thread: Primer seating depth problems with new Lapua brass ?

    Well tried again today, did the little trick to chamfer the primer mouth thanks @Micky Duck and definitely improved things. I managed to seat them better at pretty much the correct depth but still not what I would call easy and reliably to tell when at the correct depth. Anyway I found an old box of standard Federal 205 with only a couple left and bingo slid right in and seated perfectly !!!

    So question - If I do some load development with the match and once used up I will likely switch back to the standard primer, will I have to re-work anything ? General consensus on the inter web (dangerous) is they are interchangeable ? But clearly not in the way they seat. Interestingly the Match had a new box / graphics etc.

    unless you pushing the edge of envelope...you SHOULD be fine.....at worst slightly less/more velocity or accuracy but it wont be drastic.
