Yep, although I wonder if bit more than a polish as it is a groove...looked through bore scope and could see it.

Sorry, I thought the cartidge had the groove. If its the chamber with a recess I would take it to a good gunsmith to make sure it is not a crack and then get his opinion on rechambering if safe. If you bought the rifle new and it has been doing this since brand new with commercial loads then kimber should become involved. Gunsmith examination in the first instance.

Dropped of to the gunsmith for a good polish...thinks swarf may have got caught when barrel was cut (or something like that) and happened at production. Is contacting agent.

Action closed...albeit stiffly...on the no go gauge but not on the field no go. So safe to shoot but at the edge... going to run reamer in chamber to see if burr comes off.

Welll, bit hard to imagine this would simply be from a pickup during chambering. You'd expect the material to be partially round the periphery, not a solid ridge like the pics suggest. Not good QC either way if it left the factory like that.

not a huge issue if it does close on a nogo guage as long as you reload, and dont shoot factory loads...you just have a .308 and a bit..a nearly 30/06 if you take it to extreme and reem it another mm or 2 longer....

That's a bugger. Hopefully the chamber can be cleaned up.

Who was it that suggested out with the hacksaw and internally inspect? Bit dear on a chamber though, but I still say it's worth it for the education of the great unwashed on here!!!!!!!

He was suggesting hacksawing a case in half, not the chamber!
