    Short barrel .243 speeds

    Those of you that shoot one, what speeds are you getting with a short barrelled .243? Specifically interested in the lighter bullet weights-85/87gr, but any info welcomed. Also, is the velocity you state where is shoots most accurately, or are you sacrificing a bit of accuracy for power?

    16" Mossberg Patriot, winchester brass, Fed GM Primer, Sierra 85gr Flat Base varminter, 44.0gr AR2209 gives me
    3020FPS measured on labradar
    2960FPS measured on Magnetospeed (This velocity seems correct based on drop at longer range)
    Grouping is 0.6" off a bipod
    Does simmilar with the 87gr VMAX, but the sierras are cheaper and shoot straight through a red even at 10m.

    Im selling this now though as im switching to a 16" takedown and shooting subs.

    Not as hot as the ones that were doing 3200 before they got tamed down a bit

    Original model 7 243 with 18.5" barrel, 87gr Berger vlds doing 3130 fps with 44gr of H414.

    85 Interbonds. 3180 20" Hybrid 100V
    80 Speers, 3270 20" N550
