The boer goats at home have started kidding so I went for drive with the spotlight and saw ten in 500acres and only 2 let me get close enough for a shot
Next night took my young bloke with and the walking light only saw 5 and got 2 shots this is one of themName: IMG_0049.jpg

There was a still born yesterday afternoon and this morning it had vanished. Have seen a fox in this paddock every night but it won't let as get a shot so this is the next option.

Went out with the light again last night and got 2 shots with 4 foxes seen.I spotted this one from about 200yrds, got myself set up but it wouldn't look at me properly to get a shot. So after it dissappeared I headed towards the tree that it had been next too. Spotted it again from 150 still near the tree. Got set up again and the fox was nowhere to be seen. Pick up and headed closer and from about 100 spotted it near the tree again. Got set up no fox! So this time I thought I knew what was going on so just waited for five mins with the light off. Turned the light on there is the fox, quickly line it up and just as I squeezed the trigger it turned to step behind the tree. The fox just wasn't quick enough and coped it in the green lungs as it moved.
This morning the kid had been pulled out from between the traps but not eaten. This is one smart fox. I had planned to shoot a duck to use as bait but ran out of daylight before I finnished work
I will see what happens tonight as rain is forecast

SUCCESS Took the ute and my young bloke with the shotgun and BB's. We drove to the paddock without headlights and when we turned all the lights on 50m in front of us was the fox with its nose about 3feet from a kid. The fox bolted with us in hot pursuit. The paddock is fairly rough and it was Ethans first time using the shot gun while chaseing a fox at night. 11 shots later he had her but she almost made it to safety as you can see by the fence in the back groundhttp://s1097.photobucket.com/user/Ackley44/media/IMG_0061.jpg.html
I have a big smile on my face as getting the cunning one is the best. Cheers Ackley

Depends on the time of year, age, what sort of whistle you're using etc.
Generally summer is the best time for them, about now they go to den and it gets pretty tricky to shoot them.

Some good pics there Ackley I was actually harvesting wheat between Mungindi and collarenebri last year saw a few foxes around the wheat paddocks had a real good photo opportunity that I missed of a fox cub gnawing away at an old roo carcass but I spooked it while getting out of the tractor with the camera lovely looking animals but a real pest for farmers and livestock one thing I could not get over how close the emus will get to you when they want to to check you out. Most interesting expereince I had which I also missed a photo opportunity on was seeing a pair of brown snakes mating only because the farm owners son gave it the 12g treatment but sure was funny watching them bite each other when the shot pellets hit never did get any chance to get photos of some of the snakes I saw there which was a shame.
