    Cobb fallow are certainly doomed

FFS, DOC have came out saying today after the last 1080 drops in the Cobb they have rat numbers surviving 20% more than they hoped and now will hit the area again and other areas more intensely.
They going to increase the 1080 amount from 1.5kg to 2kg per hec . Thats surely the end of the fallow up there if it wasnt the case before and will hit the reds hard as well.
If DOC think they can really wipe out Rats using 1080 they have less brains they a stone.

That is pretty shit for the deer herd. Are they using repellent?

Doc know full well rats wont be wiped out by 1080, its about reducing numbers temporalrely to allow increased fledgling recruitment for the local bird populations. Adult birds are for the most part harder prey, but the eggs and chicks get hammered. Rats will outlive us on this planet....

Sadly there isn’t a herd to wipe out as they have already been hammered repeatedly on both sides - Cobb and Mt Arthur.

It’s the biggest mast year since the last biggest mast year and there are hoards of rats and mice, so more 1080 is the only solution. Those hoards never seem to be on Mt Arthur and approaches when I’m there.

This is the same thing that happens with the rabbit virus releases and how we make diseases extinct in humans through immunisation.
If this were the case it would already be evident. They have been poisoning rats with 1080 for years. Selection due to feed behaviour is quite a different kettle of fish to natural selection due to pathogen resistnence which is what we're artificailly manufacturing with vaccines.

and by the end of the year they will be predicting a "super turbo mega mast" (a once in a thousand year occurance) for 2020
why cant they just be honest and say "we know we cant kill all the rats we just want to try and kill everything we can"
oh thats right pollies and beaurocrats arent capable of honesty.
not until city dwellers and big city lifestylers (psuedo green hippy wannabe farmers) start seeing their cats and dogs and horses dying on mass from it will it ever stop.
