    Are you shooting the hares on public land? If so you need a permit, but if its private land you dont. you will also need to shoot with a centre fire rifle not a .22 or shotgun if its on public land. You legally need a permit to take any wild game animal regardless of what you kill them with and every member of the party who intends to take an animal needs a permit. I hope this helps

    Apparently the Police view of "immediate supervision" is "in a position to control muzzle direction at any time", e.g. arms' length, with a free hand. (At a proper shooting range is slightly different because the range protocols apparently count for "controlling muzzle direction".) Hence, one FAL, one firearm, as you're not considered to be supervising closely enough if you're also managing your own gun.
