    Hand held gps

    Looking at purchasing a gps to offer some assistance in navigation ( use compass also) just wondering what others out there are using, thanks in advance

    still using an old Garmin 62s, seems to be pretty reliable

    Cant go past Garmin. I use 62s and can't fault it.

    Garmin eTrex, if you want colour topo maps, the eTrex 20. If just wanting a "camp is that direction", eTrex H (yellow one)

    garmin 62s with topo bloody good unit in the bush it will drop signal but no as often as other units

    Dont screw round get a garmin rhino - fantasitic kit and doubles as radio. You can also see ya mates position on it also

    Never had mine lose signal but then I probably wouldnt notice as I usually turn it on mark start point then throw it in my day bag.

    I think I was in the car when it happened so I guess it doesn't count. Sometimes it takes a few minutes to lock onto sat when first starting up but I agree it has never lost signal, even in tight kaimai bush.

    I got a 62s at the start of the year and having the best hunting season of my life, I have noticed lost signal a couple of times but never for very long and in saying that I get myself into some god forsaken patches of shit
