About LinkBacksWent for a quick pre-brecky scoot round some bush and tussock country yesterday morning at dawn. Was surprised to see seven deer in total, all stags. Walked up behind a feeding spiker at about 35 metres and then closed in to about 150 on two young stags - a 6 and a very promising wide 8.
An odd moan at dawn but no roars, stags that are not holding hinds all out feeding.
A mate has just come back from Lake Sumner and said same thing - no roars, stags feeding
