I lend all sorts of stuff to people, and am a firm believer in "no asky, no getty", but sorry mate, I'd be pretty sketch about lending out a rifle to someone I didn't know well (I wouldn't even lend a rifle to some people I do know well!)... it would fail my 'headline test', for a number of reasons outlined above.
One thing I started doing when lending stuff to people is to tell them the replacement cost, so if it comes back damaged, there's no surprises with what they owe (things suddenly started coming back in a lot better condition).
By that rationale, you'd need to have a wad of cash ready to throw at a borrowed rifle that came back damaged... as someone mentioned, spending that on something that's yours could be a good option - a couple of sighters into a cardboard box on arrival and you'd be away. Good option here near you - ask for $100 discount and you're in business: https://www.guncity.com/65x55-carl-g...nthetic-388864, and coming from a highly trusted and reputable store, if it's a shitter, you can take it back for a refund.
