I hope that Willie has a new knife and has responded well to some butchery lessons :P
awesome thanks Greg n team.
I look forward to the new season.
Yesss, pretty much the only show I turn regular TV on for these days.
Can’t wait
Awesome Greg and team. My favourite TV show.
Already in my calendar! Awesome show!
Some real TV.Good.
.
so far...plurry AWESOME.....
Currently watching program, not bad so far but what happened to no dogs in or under doc huts rule? Realise they had the huts to themselves but not a good look on national tv. And yes, I hunt with dogs from time to time, dogs stay outside.
Bloody power been off all day due to the storm so missed it gutted!
awesome show.Thankyou.
Great episode, they know how to put the leg work in and a well deserved result, that 12 they let go will be a ripper if he gets another couple years. The biggest surprise was Greg wearing shorts!
Forgot to watch it, any good?
Will be watching it on demand tonight, looking forward to it.
Greetings @Stocky,
Excellent use of that last word. Very subtle.
GPM
Man that was epic !!!, they certainly put the hard yards in, and as for Greg D he is an" inspiration" especially to us older guys.
I might have to start wearing shorts!!
You can watch it online from the TVNZ website nz-hunter-adventures
Willie's knife work was still not up to scratch, but the filming and scenery was outstanding. Sad that areas like that with great huts and country get pillaged of stags by Waro
Really nice to watch a good ol' fashioned, walk in, walk out, hunt. No choppers, no BS, just lots of hard mahi. And very refreshing to see no fiddling and twiddling with some big arsed scope. Nice episode guys, well done.
I only just saw this thread now, So i began kicking myself for missing it on tv. Happy it is on demand though, and will have me sorted for my lunch break today.
Thanks for the quality show team!
Hell mission!
well I would kick the arse of anyone who made the dog sleep outside in conditions like that......they swept out hut afterwards, willie was shown on end of broom.
Ive seen many a "person" who calls themself a hunter who leave huts in far worse state and would leave more mess than a couple of hard working well mannered under control dogs....and would have far more parisites both internal and external too. I would happily share my sleeping quarters with those dogs any day.
Can't wait - great TV!!
A good watch as norm
Great show and I hope they continue with the cooking part at the end. Will make sure @BeeMan saves me a whole piece so I can try that pulled venison in the crockpot. And the reloading part was useful - have picked up a couple of useful tips from that.
They knew what the conditions were going to be like before they started their trip. They had the choice not to take the dogs if they didn't want them to be outside. Do you think they should be exempt from the rules or do you think all dogs should be allowed in huts?
well they have provided video evidence of what they did...IF DOC decide its an issue no doubt they will be prosecuted.. I see NO ISSUE.
I would happily see UNDER CONTROL WORKING dogs allowed anywhere,anytime....... as it stands a tramper can take their pooches into DOC controlled block and let them run riot and will have nothing done about it...if you have a permit and are hunting however you are in fireing line...Ive had this discussion with DOC staff before, more than once.
once upon a time huts would have had kennels and a meat safe......
I dont believe ALL people should be allowed in huts,so dogs are no different. feral is feral,no matter if has two or four legs.
The problem is that there has to be one rule for everyone. Would you like to share a 2 bunk hut with a pig hunter with 6 smelly wet dogs?? I know I wouldn't. It is impossible to say "you can have your dog in the hut if it is well behaved" or whatever because like all parents, people think their dog is perfect. And lets face it some people just don't like dogs. DoC know that so it is a way of keeping the peace, so to speak.
I went all considerate and put my dog in the kennel at the Oamaru hut.
The other occupants begged me to bring her in.
The howling, complaining was too much for them.
Used to have her own jacket and would sleep on swanni happy as.
Mind you seldom stayed in huts much then.
Rules are rules but commonsense should apply.
You see dogs sitting on chairs in cafes now.
I am with @mickyduck on this one.
Me and boy having a watch now.
Awesome guys. Attachment 190223
