    Public land sheep

Been trying to get a representative one of these for some time. This is a good one for the area.

    6.5prc did the job

Very steep country, worse than tahr country in places. Interesting reading online about the 8 or so recognised breeds. This one is very small in body, maybe 40kgs wet.

Sorry for cropping photos just don’t want to make location obvious

That's what I want to do also - a tough hunt for a worthy quarry. Gotta get my A into G ....

Certainly gave him a bloody nose. Can be a hard trophy to acquire alright.

Yes, really should have cleaned him up for photo but was in a fairly precarious position

dont have to say the location or anything, is the area known for or have sheep listed on the doc website for the block? always find it interesting the relatively unknown random pockets of sheep that pop up around the place

Yes it’s a known area as listed on the link attached https://www.rarebreeds.co.nz/ferals.html

They are a cool animal, similar to the feral goat, very hard to get a trophy size one
