I've had success with both the 80gr Speer Hot-Cor and the 100gr Hornady BTSP, accurate in all my 243's and effective in killing. Even better, there is negligible difference in POI between the two within 100 metres.

Goats and fallow suggest you want to stay with the softer bullets..
The SST is softish and they perform well. the eldx and the 100gf interlocks i would suggest are a bit stout for these particually at the longer distances.
From that list I would be picking the Speer 85gr.
The others I don't know.
My old man used to use 75gr for fallow in the blue mountains, 85-87gr for reds.
If you are shopping to buy bullets the Sierra Game King 85gr and hornady 87gr boat tail are popular in 243 for mid size game and generally well priced.

Greetings @Kelton,
Based on some of the stuff I have read you Model 7 may have a ! in 9" twist so you may want to measure it to be sure. Remington changed the twist of their .244 Rem from 1 in 12" to 1 in 9" and renamed it the 6mm Remington. I believe that .243 barrels may have got the 1 in 9" twist as well at that time.
Regards Grandpamac.
Primary use is fallow and goats 100-300 yards with the possibility of the odd red deer sub 200 yards
thats basically what I use my 243 for with basic winchester softpoint flatbase 80gr projectiles for and they do great
any of the fancy bullets would no doubt do better again, I have a bag of 95gr targex Im looking forward to using later down the track
If it has a 9" twist I'd go with the 105gr targex, they kill ridiculously well out to 600yards plus.
If not then the 95gr ssts aren't a bad price compared to so options and kill fairly well too. Better than the 100gr soft points I have tried in my opinion.
9 1/8 gents according to Google and this model . So thats fractionally slower than 9 eh?
How accurate and lethal do you want this mighty 243 to perform? Would you like a lighting bolt with a vapour trail extinguish goats like the last day in hell? Get 44gr's of 2209 and squeeze a Matakohe pill on top. Not joking. They are brutal. PM Mr Blythen. Obliging chap. Cleaned up a mob of goats by request from a cockie.Long range equivalent to smoking rabbits with a 22-250. Used to create red mist on goats with 75gr Hornady but the 95gr Targex is on another level. 2C.
I spoke to Bryn about his projectiles the other day and he told me that the 105's will definitely stabilise in a 1:10 barrel.
I'm pretty keen to get some 95's off him if he has them back in stock by the time mine is ready
In my daughters Model 7 I could get the Hornady 100gr Brel to shoot about 1.5” the Speer 90gr hotcor shot a bit better. Haven’t done any mucking around to improve things.
@TeRei are you talking about the targex mate?
What BC are they @TLB ? I've just ordered some of the 105 Targex for mine and would love to know if you some validated data, save me a bit of mucking around please
