How are you getting on with the 22BR now? Very underrated/underused cartridge when compared to 22/250 ballistics for the amounts of powder used & accuracy potential.
Oh, your cheques in the mail too. Hope you don't get one of those posties that keep everything, good chance you will though I think!
    Cheers, Bryn

It's going great thanks. At least settled down, it was fussy with 80 weight to start with.
Sadly it didn't shoot your projectiles or the amax for that matter consistently. (80) It would always throw one. Which was frustrating, other wise the group size was great.
My 223's love them. Just the barrel I guess. It's my luck that it likes the expensive Sierra tmk. (77gr).
It hits hard and cheats the wind well.
It did very well at the full bore range.
Iv had a little break lately but hope to do more shooting soon.
Highly recommend cartridge tho. Mine shoots less that 1/4 moa at 100. At least a dozen firings from a case with no signs of giving up.
I like it so much I have plans of re-chambering a 22-250 to make a slow twist as well, light weight rifle. same gunsmith and chamber specs.

picked up the Tikka today . . . just realised its got 1 inch rings, which narrows the scope choice down to 1 . .. looks like a weaver rail is next

very much like the barrel profile, wish it was 2 inches longer tho . . . trigger was ok at a pinch but hoping it will adjust down in weight some more . . . next step is load up some ammo and have at it

thanks to the guys who added their thoughts to this thread, very much appreciated.

Tikka triggers are easily adjusted down to a nicely light weight yourself. Pull the action out of the stock and you can see the screw. There are a couple of good YouTubes about this. Google is your friend.

Looking forward to see what you end up with.

I have just bought a Nikko Stirling "LR" in 6-24*50 as I want something that doesn't hurt too much to hold onto if/when I head off shore.

Decent glass for the money. Not amazing, but much better than the $489 tag on it... Have a look if you want more power and Illuminated etched reticle.

Yet to do any kind of testing or dialling so will see when that happens! Ended up with the lower power 4-16*50 on the sons .223 also.

adjusted the trigger down to lowest weight, its better and usable . . . this is the the video on changing spring lowering weight down further, YoDave looks like a good option.

paid for this set today off TM, not sure if the steel bedding block, action screw change is much of an upgrade but definitely need the scope rail to get one of my 6.5-20LR Leupolds on top of the Tikka, buying another scope is not an option . . . sadly

    Good option man.

Hard to go past the stock trigger really... I actually prefer the slightly stiffer spring so the let of is a bit more crisp.

That leupy sounds the ticket too.... I just need to buy a ticket to central Otago so I can blast some critters.... getting the shakes up here!

It's not a big calibre, but I'd use the steel recoil lug for sure.
The action screws can't be tourqued too tight without damaging the plastic stock anyway. From memory it's about 30-35 inch pounds. Just go easy.
I'm not a big barrel break in believer, but on my last barrel I used a borescope. shoot 1 clean one, three times ran off a lot of burrs. Then just used it.
I didn't clean it hard out, just enough to push the crap out between firings. Oh cleaned before the first firing too.

was hoping for something around the 1000rnds mark with careful cleaning and slow fire . . . have seen 1500rnds count mentioned but that maybe just wishfull thinking or good enough for Deer accuracy.

if thats what it is . . . cool . . it means i am quicker onto the next barrel or a cartridge change.

Guess it depends on how hot you load em.

If you're going for distance then those 90-95 Targex pills don't need a heap of speed to be accurate (from my experience) and kill well.

Pretty sure I had mine rolling out at 2950 and grouping very tightly. They make quite a solid this when used on possum at around 70 yds...

The bc on the 87 vmax is also adequate enough for serious long range accuracy too... Did I see the ELDM in 105? Pretty sure that will be too long for the 10 twist though unless someone here has some experience?

The 100 plus grns are too long in a 1:10 some say the 105 targex work but even Targex himself said it needs a 1:8
I would say the 87 VMAX would be the go for that 1:10

He was making 2 different 105gr, one specifically for standard 1-10 barrels. They work very well as do all the tgx bullets Iv tried.

It's way too long. I've still got a box of 105 Amaxes that won't shoot straight, so the 105 ELD's won't unless you've got a faster twist
