When considering options for a .30 cal, 6mm or .224, we don’t get quite so hung up about going with the aforementioned these days. Very few .30-06 guys having a coronary at the mere mention of a short action .30 these days... And so it will be in 20 years time with the 6.5 Creedmoor. It will be so thoroughly ubiquitous that it will be no different to a .308.

The need to be different, or “special” as I like to say to get up noses, is best expressed by haircuts, the way you dress, what breed of dog you choose, what type of car you drive. Maybe beer preference, like some of the odd fellows on here. Something as fundamentally dull as a piece of brass formed into a particular shape that is ever so slightly different to another piece of brass, isn’t really worth trying to be different about, just for the sake of making a bullet go from A to B, is it. The sensible choice is to go for the one that has the best of everything, be it components, ballistics & accuracy, second hand value, etc. The .260 Rem failed commercially, the 6.5 Creedmoor didn’t. So, pick the Creedmoor.

I am quite sure that if it hadn’t been named “Creedmoor”, but something dull like the 6.5x49, we wouldn’t be having the same conversation...

Sorry, it’s been a long day.
I often refer to mine as a 6.5x48 LOL, as i use to make just as many jokes about gaymore shooters as the next bloke. But for this model 7 it made much sense and it was cheap and easy.
