    Bolt action AR15 upper

    https://uintahprecision.com/product/...-action-upper/

Thoughts? I haven't had the patience or enthusiasm to read the new legislation in extreme detail because it's frankly a bit distressing. Likely to be legal? As far as I understand it, "prohibited parts" are ok as long as they can be put on a non-prohibited firearm, right? Should apply to AR15 lowers/triggers/etc for something like this. Please correct me if I am wrong.

My view is that if it fits onto a mil-spec lower, you are wasting your money. It will end up being caught up in the OIC process.

If it uses non mil-spec bits, you stand a better chance. They seem to be allowing non mil-spec 22s through.

Unfortunately this seems to be our new "normal"

On Sunday at ASRA there was one of GBC right side charging uppers in a manual mode that Auckland Arms Office has approved. Was done before 15 March apparently.
However I’m not 100% sure. See what Nick Taylor says in his legal opinion for COLFO.

I'm not sure I would want one anyway but it might be a better use of now prohibited parts than handing them in for 50% of what was paid.

I recall seeing a flowchart from the police when the law first changed outlining that parts from "prohibited firearms" were ok if you had a non-prohibited firearm that they fit, but I can't find it now. Hmm.

We need clarity on where an AR15 lower sits in all this.

One of the things I liked about the platform was the versatility of being able to switch out out uppers and barrels and handguards, triggers etc irrespective of semi auto function.

I'd like to know if it is ok to permanently block off the gas port on an AR barrel and use it in a bolt or pump action platform. It would be silly to have to hand in a brand new $600 barrel for $400.

Of course we all know that even if they are ok, or heaven forbid a court ruling agrees.
An OIC will follow banning such skullduggery.

I remember reading multiple times that AOs have said a standard AR15 lower but with a dedicated 22lr will be legal under the new legislation.

Seems ridiculous too me as it flies in the face of what the new rules say about 'any part that will fit', but then again AR15 parts that fit other chassis will still be legal.
Ultimately its a huge cluster fuck and once the dust has settled it'll go back to the old way of different AOs interpreting it different ways, so just keep trying different ones till you get the answer you want.

That is probably why they wanted to get rid of the AO.
So there was only the voice of the Comintern bureau in Wellington to listen to!

@gimp is that a straight pull version?
They have a lot of them in the UK. Which a lot of guys use for foxing.
